Fabrefaction Theatre Company presents "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee"

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is the story of a group of overachieving, pubescent teenagers, who are overseen by adults who have barely escaped their own childhoods. In this Tony-Award winning musical comedy, six teenagers are pitted against each other in the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee for the competition of a lifetime. In the end, the teenagers and adults alike learn that winning isn’t everything, and that losing doesn’t always make you a loser. Join Fabrefaction Theatre Company for a vibrant and hilarious evening of musical theatre performance. For tickets or more information call the FTC box office at 404-876-9468. Tickets range from $15 to $30. Performances take place at Fabrefaction Theatre Company located at 999 Brady Avenue, Atlanta, GA 30318. We're located in the heart of West Midtown right next to Miller Union restaurant and close to some of the best shopping, dining, and galleries in the city.

Top National Music Artists mix it up with Atlanta-area bands at  Journeys Backyard Barbeque  Tour Stop

Free The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus  concert featured alongside Battle of Bands

Some of nation’s hottest new music artists will mix it up with some of the country’s best action

sports athletes as a lifestyle event like no other hits the Atlanta area on Saturday, May 2.

The Journeys Backyard Barbeque will be rockin’ outside North Point Mall (1000 North Point Circle, Alpharetta, GA 30022) in the Macy’s parking lot from noon-7:00 pm., with the area’s hottest up-and-coming bands competing on the tour’s 32 foot wide mobile stage. Top area bands will also hit the stage in free headliner act concerts. Alongside the music, the action will also be off the charts as top pro skateboard and freestyle motocross athletes streak through the sky in action-packed live demo shows in the tour’s 60,000 square-foot “alternative sport playground” of jumps and ramps, including an appearance by Rob Dyrdek,  star of the hit MTV shows “Rob and Big,” and “Fantasy Factory.”

From indie rock, to emo and punk, local unsigned artists of all music styles will compete in the “Converse All Star Battle of the Bands.”  Acts with clean lyrics will compete on-stage for more than $1,000 in cash and prizes, judged by the audience -- who can come away winners as well! After voting, winning fans will be text-messaged or emailed to let them know they’ve won a prize, including Journeys gift cards and Converse products. In addition to cash and other merchandise prizes, the winning band will also receive a one-year supply of Converse shoes for each band member.

Every band competing at the event will also be given the chance for national exposure by having their bands appearance posted on the tour website, including their MP3’s made available for fan downloading. Bands are also able to further promote themselves, by selling merchandise on-site and participating in autograph sessions.

Many of the breakthrough bands featured on this tour will get boosted exposure for a larger fan

base and potential recording industry contacts. Local bands selected to compete at the event include:

“The Rise of Science” (12:00); ”Seven Story Fall”  (2:00) and “Love Like This” (3:15).  The Rise of Science Their name conjures a myriad of images in one's mind. Prior to listening to a few of the band's beautifully crafted melodic songs, one may imagine a math-rock band, or a politico-religious punk band, yet neither giving an accurate representation of the music. However, upon listening, it becomes clear why the name The Rise of Science became a suitable choice for these musicians. Whether it be the of organic blend of vocal harmonies, the prog guitars and drums, or the cinematic strings and intertwined piano, you instantly discover that the members of The Rise of Science have a passion for making new, interesting music. Every note seems to have a purpose; every articulation thought out. It's passive yet intricate, depressing yet uplifting; naturally polished. Look out for this band, they might just be your newest obsession. Check them out at: www.myspace.com/theriseofscience Seven Story Fall  Hailing from Atlanta, GA, unsigned Rock/Alternative act SEVEN STORY FALL has been igniting a buzz throughout the world. Since originally forming in 2005 when all members were 15, they've learned to take advantage of every opportunity that's crossed their path. By doing so, they've played alongside some of the world's largest internationally known acts including: Avenged Sevenfold, Yellowcard, Atreyu, Bullet For My Valentine, and more. Seven Story Fall's most recent work was recorded at Tree Sound Studios with famed gold record producers Zack Odom & Kenneth Mount (Cartel, Ludacris, Jimmy Eat World) and has received great praise from fans and music industry guru's alike. The CD has been a hot selling item at many Hot Topic stores at various malls throughout the U.S. and is quickly making it's way to stores in Japan. After just one listen, it's easy to see that these youngsters are prepared to make an impact on the world. Check them out at: www.myspace.com/sevenstoryfallrock

Love Like This  This breakthrough act rose from the ashes of former band "Kenotia" which was
signed to Sumerian Records and had a record out in the US, UK, and Japan. The band did national US tours with bands like In This Moment, Kittie, A Skylit Drive, Dance Gavin Dance, Pierce The Veil, and manymore. Love Like This is a female fronted powerhouse with intricate
guitar work and a booming rhythm section. Check them out at:

A sweet musical treat will be served up after the battle of the bands ends, at 4:45 with a special surprise opening act! Then headliner “The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus”  takes to the main stage at 6:00 pm in a rare, free showcase concert.  The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus Just two years have passed since The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, a group of friends from Middleburg, Florida who’d grown up together, emerged with their Virgin Records debut, Don’t You Fake It, which spent 62 weeks on Billboard’s Top 200, going on to sell more than a million copies in the U.S. The platinum-plus single, “Face Down,” sold 1.5 million digital downloads, has been streamed almost 17 million times on MySpace and has since been retired after spending 52 weeks on the Top 20 Modern Rock chart (RJA is one of two bands to have done so). Rock radio smash “False Pretense” and the new wedding/prom standard “Your Guardian Angel” (10.2 million MySpace spins and 455k downloads) contributed to the album’s total of 50 million MySpace streams, and the band has since sold-out national headline and festival tour appearances. Their single “Face Down,” is featured in the video game Saints Row 2,  and in the moive Georgia Rule, while “In Fate’s Hands” is featured in Madden NFL ’07, and their song  “False Pretense" is featured in the movie Never Back Down. Music is just one part of The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, though, preferring to use their visibility to promote causes they believe in. The band founded The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus Guardian Angel Foundation as an umbrella group to support a wide range of initiatives, including the fight against domestic violence (the subject of their hit single, “Face Down”), hyperglycemia research, and their latest project, supporting high school band programs in need of funds. They’ve spoken on Capitol Hill on behalf of teen suicide prevention and mental health parity, and have even created a clothing line with skateboard legend Tony Hawk, but still remain under the radar and one of the biggest bands that no one’s heard of. Working with producer Howard Benson [My Chemical Romance, Daughtry, Less Than Jake, Hoobastank, P.O.D., All-American Rejects, Seether], their new album, Lonely Road, shows a broader range of what the band is capable of. Featuring the singles “Pen and Paper,” and “You Better Pray” the album was released on February 3, 2009, as the No. 14 debut in national Billboard Top 200 album sales, and as the No. 1 Alternative digital album -- making this their highest sales chart position ever. Check them out at:  www.redjumpsuitalliance.com

Local radio partner 99X will also crank up the heat throughout the afternoon, with live,

on-site broadcasts. Before the event, fans can tune in for their chance to win Journeys Backyard BBQ Prize Packs -- featuring tour merchandise and tickets to the Journeys VIP area.

Between catching the hot new artists, fans can chill with cool entertainment and free giveaways in the tour's interactive fun zone, featuring more than 15 sponsor booths.

This free, all-ages tour will leave a smokin’ hot trail across the country this spring – from Vegas to Orlando, Atlanta to Baltimore, and wrapping up in Chicago.
